Rose Documentary

Updated: Jun 28, 2020

Hope everyone is social distancing and keeping safe! There was a rose plant that was growing which was bought on Valentine's day. It's quite the survivor as it's blooming and still fully alive ("ah...ah..ah..ah....staying alive...staying alive"...Nobody? Just me? Okay then.). So, out of curiosity, I decided to track its growth and see what happens. Enjoy!

Baby Rose: Stage Bug

The bud had just appeared after the leaves grew.

Young Rose: Stage Bloom 1

The rose petals have just been revealed as the bud leaves went down. This took 2 days but as you can see, the result are pretty pink petals.

Young Rose: Stage Bloom 2

All the bud leaves have been lowered allowing space for the rose itself to bloom. As you can see, the center shows all the different layers that need to spread out. I can't wait!

Youth rose: Bloomed

The petals have started to widen showing the inner layers of the rose. It looks really pretty

Rose: Bloomed

This was taken at a different time of the day so it doesn't seem to appear that bright. However, the stem of the flower began to bend over making it hard to take the picture.

Rose: Fully Bloomed

The rose has fully bloomed with all the layers visible. If you look closely, the pollen can be seen in the middle. The petals, however, seemed to bend backwards which strikes quite odd. This may be due to the fact that it was grown indoors. Remember how the stem was bending? Eventually, the stem broke so the rose is currently kept in a water jar. This may be due to the fact that the rose itself may have been to heavy for the stem.

It was pretty fun documenting it's growth! I wonder what will happen next to the rose. The plant also has two other buds in which one has already began the baby rose stage. Lol, I hope those actually stay on the plant.
